Condom broke
Condoms that break again and again are often too narrow for you. Most cases are solved once the fit, lube and storage are right.
Why does my condom keep breaking?
Durex says a condom that fits poorly breaks or slips more easily. When a condom is too narrow, it gets stretched beyond what it was built for. Breaks also come from a few other things. One is oil-based lube on latex, and using too little lube is another. Opening the pack with your teeth counts as well, and so does a condom that stayed in a wallet or is past its date.
If a condom broke
Pull out first, then take the condom off and put a new one on. With emergency contraception and HIV PEP, the sooner you start, the better they work, so contact a doctor, clinic or pharmacy that same day. A sexual health clinic can give you advice on testing.
How far does a condom stretch?
Condoms stretch quite far, which is why one width fits a range of girths. But a condom held at full stretch for a long time becomes weaker and thinner. If it feels tight, the width is too small for you.
Stop it happening again
Measure your girth, then check what width you wear. Move up one size when the width you wear is narrower than the calculator says.
