Average condom size
Most condoms are made 53 to 55 mm wide (regular), for a girth up to about 11.9 cm. The average girth of 12 cm fits about 57 mm (large).
Girth to width table: is your girth average?
| Girth (cm) | Girth (in) | Width (mm) | Width (in) | Size |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 9.5 to 9.9 | 3.74 to 3.9 | 47 | 1.85 | Extra small |
| 10 to 10.4 | 3.94 to 4.09 | 49 | 1.93 | Small |
| 10.5 to 11.9 | 4.13 to 4.69 | 53 | 2.09 | Regular |
| 12 to 13.4 | 4.72 to 5.28 | 57 | 2.24 | Large |
| 13.5 to 14.4 | 5.31 to 5.67 | 60 | 2.36 | XL |
| 14.5 to 15.4 | 5.71 to 6.06 | 64 | 2.52 | XXL |
| From 15.5 | From 6.1 | 69 | 2.72 | XXXL |
These sizes come from the table published by the condom brand Mister Size. Each row ends just before the next one starts, so every girth has one width. Their published table ends with the 69 mm row at 15.5 cm. If you measure well over 15.5 cm, look at the widest condoms too, up to 72 mm (MY.SIZE PRO 72).
What does average mean for a condom?
Over a span from January 2019 until January 2020, an Italian study measured 4,685 young men. Erect length averaged 16.78 cm in the study, while erect girth averaged 12.03 cm. Durex, citing the NHS, puts the average erect girth at 12 to 13 cm.
In the Mister Size table, 53 mm covers girths up to 11.9 cm and 57 mm starts at 12 cm. So an average girth of 12 cm gets 57 mm from the table and from our calculator. If you measure a little under 12 cm, a regular 53 to 55 mm condom is the one to try.

Condom length chart
Length matters less than width. ONE's data shows 91% of people get more length than they need from standard condoms. The extra length usually just stays rolled up at the base. A long condom helps once you're past about 7.5 inches (19 cm). Below that, width is usually the thing to get right.

|---|---|---|---|
| Shorter | 160–179 | 6.3–7 | Trojan G.Spot (160 mm), MY.SIZE PRO 57 (178 mm), Sagami Original 0.01 (170 mm) |

Is a condom one size fits all?
No. Standard condoms squeeze 50% of ONE's survey group too tightly, and sit too loosely on 30%. Regular condoms stretch, yes, but you get the best fit when the width matches your girth.
